There are only two answers: Always or Never. You will be enough when you believe you are enough. When you wake up every morning knowing this message: The world needs you, right here, right now. And that to choose not to play as a 10 in the Game of Life, in work, in dating, in friendship, AND in every other context, is to do a disservice to yourself and others. You honour yourself by knowing what you have to offer to the world. If you’re going to play, play to win. Anything less than a 10 is playing to lose.
We live in a society where we are burdened by expectations of perfection, of messages that tell us that we need to be fixed. To be saved. To work on ourselves more before we can receive what we want. My social media feeds are full of advertisements about the latest conference, workshop, or class I need to take before I’m ready. Our bookstores are lined with self-help books by the millions, and it’s hard to turn off that addiction. We have become learning junkies, obsessive about knowing more without truly living out what we preach. We have become blind to the fact that we already have what we need; we just need to give ourselves permission to create, to play, and to fail.
I am guilty of this pattern, of telling myself these lies rather than taking responsibility for my own path in life. Earlier this year, I had stated that my goal was to grow this blog up to 250,000 monthly visitors. My secondary goal was to publish a blog article each week, but I haven’t been doing that. Haven’t been showing up to write the stories that need to be shared because my ego self, the part of me that clings onto old things, has been waiting for that moment. The moment where it feels safe and ready, but let’s be honest, there isn’t such a thing as the perfect time.
And if we are looking for excuses, we will always find them. Here were some of mine: Long commute. Doing inner work. In a new discipline. Weightlifting. Dating. Supporting my family. Need to learn SEO first. Need more coaching before I truly show up. Need safety. Need more money. Need a guarantee that this will be better than my other businesses. Scared I won’t be able to have a relationship AND my health AND my business. The list is endless if we choose to think that way. I call myself out.
So what do we do? We accept the fact that the best time to create is NOW. Allowing ourselves to fall is where we will grow our wings. Seeing the play and the joy in creation, and rewriting the stories we tell ourselves: Showing up as a 10 anytime, anywhere, will be an exciting journey and a worthy puzzle to solve, not a struggle. After all, the more we create, the easier it gets; trust the process.
And the most beautiful part? The second we allow ourselves to fall into the ease of surrender, of permitting ourselves to play at the highest level, the more that comes our way in terms of opportunities and resources. The opportunities are pouring not to stress you out, but because the world sees your potential. They know you’re ready; they see your value, and they want you to step into the fear and grow. To play at the level you are meant to play at, and that you are not alone in this journey. The world needs your gift and they want to help you. They want to see you fly.
